They'd be scratching the windscreen. I wouldn't turn on anything else that I didn't need to use, either. But I also wouldn't bother reaching down to turn the radio off just because it was playing softly and I wasn't really paying attention to it or being inconvenienced by virtue of the fact that it was turned on. That'd be a waste of effort. The comparison with turning stuff on in the car isn't really a valid one. That stuff doesn't come on automatically when you turn the key in the ignition, unless it's previously and deliberately been turned on.
